With all the playing outside, the pups have been looking grubby so tonight they had a much needed bath! This gets them used to being bathed and dried. After seeing how comfortable they were around the high velocity dog blaster when grooming the older dogs (they all fell asleep snuggled next to it... and it's loud!) I decided to try it on the puppies on the lowest setting and there was not a sound from anyone! They all sat on my lap to be dried with no struggle whatsoever! These really are laid back puppies, nothing seems to phase them! :-)
The puppies are keeping me very busy! They love to be out and about exploring the house and garden, they love to run about and play with the big dogs! They are fully weaned however Ruby will still feed them throughout the day! They are growing so fast and I can't believe it is only two weeks before they will be eight weeks old and ready to leave us. We are booked in to see the vet Monday week for vaccinations and chipping so I will report back. The puppies are five weeks old today! They are all enjoying playing together in the garden and have been out in the car a number of times! The weaning is going extremely well and they are already eating three meals a day as well as feeding from Ruby. Ruby is a very attentive Mum and Daisy and Hedley are forever playing with the puppies. The puppies are interacting with one another, playing, growling and barking. They are also interacting with their Mum and the other dogs who are all such great teachers!
Here they are playing in the garden :) Here is a great video of Aunty Daisy having fun with Ruby's puppies! Ruby is more than happy for Daisy to entertain them why she takes a well earnt rest! :) The puppies have really grown this week. Weaning has started and they are enjoying their food. They are still feeding from Ruby, who is happy to let them for the time being. Their teeth are starting to come through so I'm not sure how long she will let them carry on! The pups are showing a great interest in all things new including toys and cardboard tubes! They are spending a lot of time out of the puppy pen exploring. Their coats have started to come in, and are all curling up nicely! We are noticing their individual personalities coming through and it's great to see the subtle differences between them. In the week ahead as the puppies grow in strength and confidence they will start to go outside to explore the garden. Daisy loves playing with them and has already taken role as chief babysitter. She is a natural with young puppies and teaches them so much by playing and interacting with them. Ruby meanwhile is happy to get some peace and watch from the sidelines... That's until they are hungry again! Here is a video of them playing and feeding. Enjoy :) The puppies are three weeks old and are growing up fast. They have really developed over the past week and are now interacting with one another, playing and growling! At just over two weeks the puppy pen was divided into sleeping and toilet area and I am so please that the pups are already using the paper to toilet. It may seem early but this is the first step in successful housetraining! Ruby is now spending slightly longer away from them but is the first to go running back when she hears a little squeak!
Over the next week weaning will start and the pups will have their first taste of raw meat! |
